DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

US 34 begins on the Union‑Adams County line approximately 5 ½ miles north of the SW corner of Union County, and travels generally northeasterly and easterly via Creston and Afton to the Union‑Clarke County line approximately 2 miles east of Thayer, Iowa.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records US 34 in Union County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 34 in Union County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

NOTE: The following sections of old US 34 will revert to the Union County Secondary Road System in accordance with Section 313.2 Code of Iowa; Station 601+91 to Station 670+38 and Station 749+62 to Station 797+79.

 

The old section of US 34 from Station 828+10 to Station 899+78 and the new connection to relocated US 34 will revert to the Union County Secondary Road System as per agreement dated 16 August, 1972.

 

The section of old US 34 located in Afton will revert to the local street system in accordance with Urban Policy 2600‑001‑E7.
